I think it is a great deal on a few fronts. This is a business first and the $ fits into the long term draft and develop strategy. Year 4 at $6 million is important for the Jets in the future.

Buff is as unique a player as the league has (Brett Burns compares?). Also it shows all players NHL wide that you can make $8 million in Winnipeg. Do not underestimate that.

I see one Captain was traded today now we need to move Ladd!

This is a great deal for the jets and Buff. I'm happy with term and cap hit, the fan's wouldn't have stood for letting both ladd and buff go, buff was the man I'd have taken as well. I watched his interview last night when Mo announced after the practice that he had been extended I guess Buff told the team he'd take them out for dinner... to McDonalds! top notch talent

something that should not be overlooked, is that Buff can be moved up front, if at some point playing big minutes becomes problematic for him.

Where he can be a significant weapon in a 7-game series.

I like this deal for the Jets. Chevy has all kinds of prospects and talent on the way. Keep the Big Boy around for the playoffs that are to come. And hope they have enough on the back end to move him up front.

Chevymissedhe boat with ....don't believe you win with him as #1 on and that was obvious prior so he shud have been dealt a couple of years ago and the Jets would be a lot closer to being a contender than they are today.
